Plans and pricing
Your plan, wallet, and invoices belong to your organization and cover all its workspaces. Use this page to compare email plans, understand overage, and distinguish usage charges from add-on subscriptions.
Open Billing and payments > Overview to see the current plan, renewal date, and allowance usage. Organization Owners and Billing admins manage billing access.

What's in a plan
Every plan has three parts:
- A recurring charge. A fixed amount billed each billing period, covering the plan and everything included in it.
- Included email volume. Each plan includes a monthly email allowance covered by the plan charge.
- Tier-based capabilities. Tiers set limits for sending speed, sending domains, dedicated IPs, and workspaces.
Plans within a tier have different included volumes. Current prices, allowances, and limits are on the pricing page and in the dashboard plan picker.
The plan tiers
- Free: for trying Bird and low-volume sending. 1,000 emails per month, capped at 50 per day (the daily counter resets at midnight UTC), one sending domain, and no credit card required to start. There's no overage on the Free plan. Bird rejects new sends at the daily cap until midnight UTC and at the monthly cap until your next period starts.
- Startup: for getting going. Real monthly volume, room for several sending domains, and overage when you have a spike. Dedicated IPs aren't available at this tier.
- Growth: for teams sending at scale. The largest allowances, meaningfully higher sending-speed ceilings, far more sending domains than Startup, and dedicated IPs as a paid add-on.
- Enterprise: for volumes or commercial terms beyond the published Growth plans. Contact sales to discuss requirements.
Use the current pricing page and dashboard plan picker as the source for prices, included volume, and plan limits.
Overage: sending beyond your allowance
When your paid plan has an overage rate and overage is enabled, extra sends are metered per 1,000 emails. Overage accrues during the billing period and is charged from your wallet when the period ends. If overage is disabled or the plan has no overage rate, Bird rejects new sends at the included volume until the next billing period or a plan change raises the limit.
Overage has a ceiling. The default cap allows total period usage up to five times your plan's included volume. Bird rejects sends beyond the cap until the period resets or you upgrade. See Plan changes & renewals.
One thing to know: if a renewal payment has failed and your plan is past due, overage is suspended: you keep your included allowance, but sends beyond it are rejected until the balance is settled. The details are in Plan changes & renewals.
Pay-as-you-go: SMS and WhatsApp
Messaging products outside the email allowance are billed from the wallet as you send:
- SMS is priced per segment by destination country and, in some countries, by carrier. Bird deducts its own charge from the wallet while processing the message; where a carrier surcharge applies, that is deducted when the message is delivered.
- WhatsApp is priced per message by template category and destination country, charged the same way: Bird's fee while processing, Meta's share on delivery.
- Verification (one-time passcodes) has no separate fee: you pay the normal channel cost of each message it sends.
These products need enough available wallet balance or credit for the charge. Prepaid organizations must top up when the balance is exhausted. Current per-country rates appear in the product and pricing pages; organization usage appears on the Usage page.
Add-on subscriptions: numbers and dedicated IPs
Phone numbers and dedicated IPs are monthly subscriptions with recurring charges. They appear with the plan in the subscriptions table on the Settings page and as separate invoice line items. Dedicated IPs are available from the Growth tier up.
Change your plan
From the plan card on the Overview page, select Upgrade or Change plan. Upgrades apply after payment settles. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current period. See Plan changes & renewals for payment details.
