Acceptable use policy

This article summarizes how you may use Bird. It is not the contract. The Acceptable Use Policy and Bird's formal terms contain the binding rules and take precedence over this summary.

Send messages that recipients consented to receive, represent the sender and content accurately, and comply with applicable law.

Spam and unsolicited bulk messaging. Do not send marketing or bulk messages without the required consent. This includes addresses from purchased, rented, or scraped lists that do not comply with applicable law. The consent article explains how to collect and record consent.

Phishing and fraud. Impersonating another person, brand, or organization; spoofing sender identities; misleading subject lines or content designed to trick recipients into revealing credentials, payment details, or personal information; and any other deceptive scheme.

Malware and malicious content. Do not distribute viruses, ransomware, spyware, or links to malicious sites in message content, attachments, or redirects.

Harassment and abuse. Messages that threaten, intimidate, or harass individuals or groups, including continuing to message people who have opted out or asked you to stop.

Illegal content and activity. Do not send content that is illegal where you or your recipients are located, or use Bird for illegal activity. Some content is restricted in specific countries or channels; see Supported countries & restrictions.

Bird collects account, payment, authentication, and messaging signals to identify potential misuse.

Bird may review activity and restrict access when it identifies a violation: rejecting a request, placing an account under review, or suspending access, depending on the severity and the applicable terms. The abuse and compliance overview covers these actions in full and explains how enforcement differs from a health classification.

The API error or dashboard notice identifies an active restriction when that information is available. Email-health classifications, such as the Throttled label, are diagnostic and do not enforce a sending pause.
