Bird builds the wires the modern internet runs on. SMS, email, voice, real-time, for over a decade.We built them ourselves, end to end, instead of licensing the way most companies do. That bet is what lets us ship a developer API for messaging that other platforms can't match: same wires underneath, new SDK on top.
When we launched Bird in 2011, most providers licensed their telecom stack from established players. We built ours: 240 direct-to-carrier SMS connections, piece by piece. The hard way, but the only way to control what mattered: latency, deliverability, reach.
