Pay as you go or choose a monthly deposit

Send without a monthly plan at the published usage rates below. A paid plan adds a spendable monthly balance deposit and raises your sending limits, along with its other listed benefits. Other fees may apply.

The monthly deposit becomes spendable Bird balance. Usage draws from it at applicable rates; other fees may apply.

When is a WhatsApp message charged?

Only outbound messages are charged; messages your customers send you are free. Pricing depends on the recipient's country and message category. Bird charges its fee on every outbound message, in every category, when the message is processed. Meta's fee follows Meta's pricing rules for the category and destination and is recorded from a delivered or read receipt. See Bird's billing sequence.

Pricing questions

What makes up the cost of a WhatsApp message?
Your total can include Bird processing and Meta charges. The tables separate these components by destination and message category so you can compare the applicable fees.
Why does the message category matter?
Marketing, utility, authentication and service messages can have different charging rules. Estimate your mix of message categories rather than applying one rate to every conversation.
Is every WhatsApp message charged?
Yes. Bird charges its fee on every outbound message, in every category, including service messages. Meta's fee follows Meta's pricing rules for the category and destination.
Does a zero Meta fee mean the message is free?
A zero Meta charge does not by itself remove Bird processing charges. Review both components and your account agreement before estimating the total.
Which destination should I choose?
Use the recipient destination that applies to the message. Category and destination both matter when looking up the published rate.
Can I get volume pricing?
Share your destinations, expected monthly volume and category mix with Sales. Your quote should distinguish Bird charges from Meta charges and any other agreed services.
