New trunks block traffic in both directions until you open them. Point your equipment at the trunk's dedicated SIP domain and admit traffic by public IP allowlist, digest authentication with scoped API keys, or short-lived session credentials for browser and CLI softphones.
Enable inbound calling, add your PBX or SBC gateway addresses, and assign your Bird phone numbers to the trunk. Disabling inbound traffic on a trunk automatically resets its assigned numbers to reject calls so customer traffic does not hang on an inactive route.
Connect over UDP or TCP on port 5060, or encrypt SIP signaling over TLS on port 5061. To prevent unauthorized outbound calling and international toll fraud, Bird requires a verified caller ID and an enabled destination country before dialing out, returning clear SIP response codes and call-log reasons when a call is refused.
