Add Bird to Claude

Add Bird from Claude’s connector directory and sign in to your workspace. Once connected, Claude can send transactional email, SMS, and WhatsApp messages, inspect bounce and delivery status, and configure sending domains and phone numbers using the workspace permissions you delegate.

Connect your Bird workspace to Claude in a few steps.

Install the Bird connector on the web or desktop and sign in through your browser, or attach a credential vault in the Claude Console so Claude Managed Agents can reply to inbound customer messages.

Server URL
https://mcp.bird.com
  1. Add Bird

Select Add to Claude to open Bird in Claude’s connector directory. To add the server manually, open Customize → Connectors, click +, choose Add custom connector, and paste the hosted server URL.

  2. Authorize the connection

Click Connect to complete the browser sign-in and choose which workspace permissions to delegate. Then enable the Bird connector for your conversation from the + → Connectors menu.

  3. Confirm your workspace

Ask Claude to check your signed-in account and active workspace before running your first messaging task. Once it confirms your workspace details, you can start sending messages, inspecting delivery logs, and configuring channels.

Troubleshoot delivery, configure senders, and monitor live channels from chat.

Ask Claude to inspect recent email bounces and sending domains, check what your workspace needs before sending SMS order updates, or list active voice calls in real time.

Understand a delivery issue
Check my recent email failures. Group them by reason, inspect the affected sending domain, and tell me what needs fixing before making changes.
Prepare a new channel
Help me set up SMS for order updates. Check my workspace and available senders, explain what is missing, then prepare a test for a number I provide.
See what is happening now
List the Voice calls that are active right now. Separate connected calls from calls that are still ringing, and show their IDs.

Common questions about connecting Claude to Bird

Learn how delegated workspace permissions, browser authentication, and inbound message routing work across Claude and Claude Managed Agents.

Does connecting Bird’s MCP server give Claude unrestricted access to my workspace?

No. When you sign in through your browser, you choose whether to grant workspace or organization access and select which permissions to delegate. The grant is capped to the permissions you hold and approve, and destructive operations are annotated so Claude asks before running them. You can revoke access from Connected apps in your Bird profile.

Do I need an API key to connect Claude or Claude Managed Agents to Bird?

For Claude on the web and desktop, you sign in through your browser using OAuth without creating an API key. For Claude Managed Agents, you store a Bird MCP OAuth credential in a Claude Console credential vault so your agent can send replies, and configure a Bird webhook to route incoming WhatsApp, SMS, Apple Messages, or agent mailbox messages straight into a new agent session.

Why do Bird tools appear in Claude when tool calls still fail?

Adding the server URL registers the tool catalog, and calling those tools requires an active OAuth sign-in. Open Customize → Connectors in Claude, click Connect beside Bird to approve the browser consent screen, and enable the Bird connector for your conversation from the + → Connectors menu. For Claude Managed Agents, verify that your credential vault entry and the agent’s MCP server configuration share the exact same Bird server URL.
