Build a native Apple Messages interaction
Choose, prepare and test rich links, attachments, quick replies and list pickers for a useful customer decision.
Prerequisites
Prepare an authorized test conversation, a defined customer task, approved content and the receiving workflow for the customer’s response.
1. Choose the native content type
Use a rich link for a meaningful destination, an attachment for a document and a list picker for a structured choice. Keep the core information readable as text and match the interaction to the decision.
2. Prepare the content and response meaning
Write concise labels and relevant descriptions. Preserve stable item meaning separately from display text. Use the supported media preparation and access flow for attachments.
3. Check the device experience
Verify the native structure and capabilities for intended devices. Test the actual rendered message, including long text and a relevant translation. A browser preview is useful but does not establish device behavior.
4. Process the selected answer
Correlate the response with the business, conversation and original interaction. Validate the selected item against current business state, then apply normal identity and permission rules before acting.
5. Provide a useful continuation
Handle typed replies outside the offered choices, unavailable items and failed integrations. Explain the real result or route the request to someone who can help.
Verify the meaning of a selection
Choose a product-advice example with a list of relevant items. Send the list, select an option on a supported device and match the returned choice to the item your application expected. Continue with a booking or service request using that item. Review a longer language variant before publishing the template.
| Test case | Action | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| Two options have similar display labels | Use stable option references to distinguish their meaning. | The selected response maps to the intended product or service. |
| The linked content opens outside the conversation | Check that the destination is current and the customer can return. | The next service step remains understandable after the link is opened. |
| The selected product is no longer available | Validate the choice against current business data and offer an alternative. | The application avoids confirming an unavailable item. |
Troubleshooting
For rejected content, inspect the reported field and current message contract. For stale selections, retrieve current business options. For inaccessible media, inspect the authorized media path and retention rules rather than making private files public.
