This country has mandatory registration, and senders can be used only by clients who registered the sender and provided all documentation for approval. We can not register the sender ID on behalf of the client. Client has to register directly on the SSIR portal by following the steps on this page: https://sgnic.sg/faq/sms-sender-id-registry Once the registration is completed, and SSIR letter of confirmation has been sent to the Client. Client has to submit a letter and ACRA document for internal sender approval. Unregistered sender ID can be approved from our side and if client accepts manipulation of the sender ID to generic sender Likely-SCAM.

What this market refuses

Unsolicited SMS from unknown sources related to loans, financial assistance, adult content, or online gambling/betting are considered spam and are not allowed. Any message that arrives to the user who did not request the message can be reported to the Regulatory, and in this case, the Local Police is involved.

One API

How sending works

You send to every destination through the same endpoint and the same keys. Bird picks a compliant route for the country, applies opt-out handling on every message, and reports delivery from carrier receipts. The country-specific part is which sender you register. The API call does not change.

Sending to Singapore, answered

What senders ask before their first message to Singapore.

Do I need to register a sender before sending SMS to Singapore?
Yes. Every sender here must be registered before it can send: a short code, an alphanumeric sender ID, and a long code. Short codes are assigned by Bird rather than bought, and only reach numbers inside the country. For an alphanumeric sender ID the name itself is registered, so recipients see exactly the name that was approved. A phone number is registered for this country before it can send business messages.
Can I use an alphanumeric sender ID in Singapore?
Yes, once the sender ID has been registered.
How long does sender registration take in Singapore?
Registering a short code takes about 84 business days.
Can I receive replies from Singapore?
Yes, if you send from a short code or a long code. Replies are delivered to you as signed webhooks.
Are there quiet hours for SMS in Singapore?
Yes. Local rules limit the hours in which you can send.
Do I need consent before messaging someone in Singapore?
Yes. The recipient must opt in before you send the first message.
What other channels can Bird reach Singapore on?
WhatsApp and Voice, from the same account and API.
