Check mobile number transfer requirements
The eSIM API does not provide number-porting operations. This checklist helps you assess a proposed transfer with the receiving provider; it is not a procedure for submitting a port through Bird. Confirm that a receiving service accepts the number before changing the existing service.
1. Check eligibility
Ask the receiving provider to confirm the country, number type, and donor provider are supported. A phone number included with an eSIM offer does not establish that an existing number can be transferred to it.
2. Collect the required details
Obtain the account holder's authorization and the details required by the receiving provider. These may include account information and transfer credentials. Match the donor's records and store private credentials securely.
3. Confirm the submission process
Obtain the receiving provider's documented submission and status-checking process. Keep its request reference and any confirmed schedule. Do not cancel the donor service until that process permits it.
4. Resolve a declined request
Use the receiving provider's rejection reason to identify the correction needed. Ask the authorized account holder to update the information before resubmitting through that provider's process.
5. Verify service after transfer
After the receiving provider confirms completion, test incoming and outgoing calls, SMS, and data as applicable. Check any final billing or account-closure requirements with the previous provider.
Troubleshooting
If calls or messages fail after a confirmed transfer, contact the receiving provider with the port reference and test results. Purchasing another eSIM package does not resolve a number-transfer failure.
