Wire email, SMS, WhatsApp, and Voice into your app directly from OpenCode.

Install the Bird plugin in OpenCode so your terminal agent can configure sending domains and phone numbers, wire transactional email, SMS, WhatsApp, and Voice into your codebase, and debug delivery failures from the terminal.

Can you check which calls are active right now and tell me which are connected and which are still ringing?

Bird MCP4 connected actions
  1. 1Read the workspaceworkspace_get
  2. 2Find calls in progressvoice_legs_list
  3. 3Inspect the connected callvoice_legs_get

Connect OpenCode to your Bird workspace in three terminal steps.

Install the Bird plugin, sign in to your Bird account in the browser, and verify your active workspace before running channel operations.

Terminal
opencode plugin github:messagebird/bird-ai --global
opencode mcp auth bird
  1. Install the plugin

Run the global plugin install command to register Bird’s MCP server and agent skills in OpenCode. Because OpenCode loads connected tools into the model context, the plugin connects to Bird’s dynamic endpoint so your agent can discover and run the right API operation for each task without crowding your context window.

If you prefer project-scoped guidance without a live server connection, run npx skills add messagebird/bird-ai in your repository so OpenCode loads channel patterns and SDK conventions from .agents/skills/ alongside your code.

  2. Authorize the connection

Run the authentication command to sign in to Bird in your browser and delegate workspace permissions, then restart OpenCode to load the plugin. OpenCode prompts for confirmation before running operations that modify your workspace.

  3. Check the account

Ask OpenCode which Bird account and workspace it is connected to before starting your first task. When the agent returns your organization identity and configured channels, you are ready to inspect senders and build.

Run live channel checks and wire messaging from your terminal prompt.

Ask OpenCode to audit failing email deliveries, verify SMS sender readiness, or inspect active Voice calls against your Bird workspace while you edit application code.

Understand a delivery issue
Check my recent email failures. Group them by reason, inspect the affected sending domain, and tell me what needs fixing before making changes.
Prepare a new channel
Help me set up SMS for order updates. Check my workspace and available senders, explain what is missing, then prepare a test for a number I provide.
See what is happening now
List the Voice calls that are active right now. Separate connected calls from calls that are still ringing, and show their IDs.

How permissions, credentials, and troubleshooting work in OpenCode.

What to know about workspace authorization, production API keys, and reauthenticating your terminal session before you run live channel operations.

Does connecting MCP give my agent unrestricted access to my Bird workspace?

No. OpenCode operates within the Bird user role and workspace permissions you approve during browser sign-in, and it prompts for confirmation before running workspace actions. You can revoke delegated access from your Bird account settings at any time.

Do I need a Bird API key to connect OpenCode to hosted MCP?

Hosted MCP authenticates your interactive OpenCode session through browser sign-in, so you do not need to paste an API key to inspect your workspace or test senders. When your application sends production email, SMS, WhatsApp, or Voice traffic from your own servers, store a dedicated Bird application access key in your app environment.

Why do Bird tools appear in OpenCode when workspace calls fail?

Installing the plugin registers the server endpoint, while account sign-in is a separate step. Run the MCP authentication command in your terminal to complete browser sign-in, restart OpenCode, and ask the agent to confirm your active Bird account and workspace.

Extend your Bird workflow with MCP server architecture, portable skill packs, and integrations for the rest of your coding stack.
