Mobile number porting
A new mobile service. A familiar number.
Let subscribers bring an eligible mobile number into their plan. Turn account requirements, approvals and the network move into a journey they can follow, with a clear next action when something needs attention.
The number move
EXAMPLEYOUR EXISTING NUMBER
Keep the connection familiar.
Subscriber authorized
The required account information is attached.
Request submitted
Follow the provider’s response and confirmed schedule.
Illustrative porting states. Eligibility, requirements and timing vary by number and provider.
Before the move
Check the number and the account.
Confirm that the selected service supports porting from the donor provider. Collect the account holder’s authorization and the precise information required for that market and number.
Match the donor’s records
A name, account number or transfer credential can be required. Explain where the subscriber obtains each item and check it against the requested porting path.
Keep the current service active
Follow the agreed porting procedure before canceling the old plan. Ending the donor service prematurely can interfere with the number move.
Track the transition
Make the port a visible part of onboarding.
Show the request state and any confirmed scheduling information. Keep the subscriber informed about the next action without turning an estimate into a guaranteed completion time.
A declined request can be recoverable
Explain the reported reason, such as an account mismatch or transfer protection. Let the entitled subscriber correct the required details before resubmission.
Prepare the receiving service
Connect the new plan, profile and inbound service to the intended number. The profile installation and the number transfer are related steps with distinct outcomes.
After the move
Verify the service people rely on.
Check incoming and outgoing calls, messages and data according to the plan. Confirm the number shown in the account and help the subscriber understand the final billing relationship with the previous provider.
Test the important paths
Use representative calls and messages and verify the services the subscriber actually bought. A completed port status is the start of that operational check.
Make leaving understandable too
Provide the requirements for an eligible future port-out. Separate moving the number, ending service and settling the final bill so the subscriber knows what remains.
