Start from an automation template
An automation template provides connected steps, setup guidance, and sample scenarios for a particular task. Use one to build a reminder, notification, or follow-up workflow without assembling each step yourself.
Automations is in Early access. Your workspace permissions determine which actions you can perform.
An automation template defines a workflow. An SMS, email, or WhatsApp template defines the content of a message used by a send step.
Choose a starting workflow
- Open Automation templates, or select Create automation > Use a template from Automations.
- Search for the outcome you need and open a template.
- Review its prerequisites and select steps in the workflow to understand their inputs and results.
- Explore the sample scenarios, including alternate paths where provided.
Scenarios simulate the workflow with sample data and action results.
Configure your copy
- Select Use template.
- Enter a name that describes the workflow's purpose.
- Complete the setup fields shown, such as sender, audience, or message template.
- Select Create draft.
The editor opens an independent automation. Changes to this draft do not modify the starting template or other automations created from it.
Review the draft
Inspect recipients, senders, message content, delays, and branch conditions. A template's sample destination is not a live recipient choice. Fields mapped from an event use the actual event values during a run.
Use Preview workflow to explore the draft with its samples, then review Checks. Saving a draft does not publish it or connect an external business system.
If setup cannot find a resource, confirm that it exists in the selected workspace and that you can access it. For channel requirements, follow Send messages.
