Opt-outs
Bird recognizes supported opt-out keywords such as STOP, records a suppression for that sender-and-subscriber pair, and rejects later sends that match it. Coverage, replies, custom keywords, and suppression management are documented in Opt-outs and keywords.
A subscriber can also opt out of every sender in the workspace at once. That's a stated preference rather than a suppression, recorded from the Preferences tab of SMS > Suppressions; the same guide covers it.
Use that guide as the source for current country coverage and behavior. It also explains how to list keyword rules, customize replies, add campaign keywords, and manage manual suppressions.
For example, this command adds a manual suppression for one sender-and-subscriber pair:
Code example
bird sms suppressions add --destination +15550001234 --originator +15557654321Next steps
- Opt-outs and keywords: configure keywords and manage suppressions.
- Sending SMS: review categories, senders, and rejection conditions.
- Events: handle the sms.* events for sends and replies.
