## Keep the customer’s choice all the way to checkout.

Your customer has chosen a bag, asked about delivery and found the right color. Bring that selection into an order review and Apple Pay, then return the recorded purchase to Messages. The service conversation stays connected to what they bought.

Use the same path for assisted shopping, an agreed repair charge or a reservation that requires payment. Bird connects the native interaction to your commerce and payment systems, so pricing, stock and the resulting order come from the business that owns them.

## Connect the payment to the purchase.

A good checkout begins before the payment sheet. Resolve the product and fulfillment details, present the payable order and keep the final result tied to the conversation.

### Build the order in your commerce system

Use the selected item, current availability and customer choices to create the order context. Obtain the amount, currency, taxes and shipping from your commerce source before presenting payment.

### Prepare the Apple Pay connection

Connect the merchant identity, payment processor and certificates needed for Apple Pay in Messages. Keep merchant validation and payment-session handling in the application responsible for checkout.

### Let the customer authorize payment

Present the order through the native Apple Pay experience. The customer reviews and authorizes it using the supported device flow, then your payment integration processes the returned payment data.

### Confirm the recorded result

Associate the payment outcome with the order and reply with the confirmation. Continue with fulfillment, a receipt or service assistance using the same order context. Process a refund through the payment system and reflect its result in the conversation.

## A checkout your service team can follow.

### Keep pending outcomes visible

If payment is still being checked, show that status and retrieve the existing attempt before creating another. The customer and your team should be able to distinguish a declined payment from one awaiting confirmation.

### Keep account access deliberate

Use authentication when retrieving saved addresses, account-specific offers or order history. Limit the information shown to the signed-in customer’s permissions and make clear when the customer needs to sign in again.

## Apple Pay questions

### Does the messaging provider replace our payment processor?

No. Connect the approved merchant and payment-provider arrangement. The commerce and payment systems retain their responsibilities for orders and financial outcomes.

### Does a payment message mean the order is paid?

No. Verify the recorded payment result and update the order through the owning commerce workflow.

### Can the customer continue checkout on the web?

Prepare the supported fallback journey for the device and service. Preserve the same order context and normal authorization checks.

### What if payment succeeds but the confirmation fails?

Recover the original order and payment result, then send an accurate confirmation. Do not repeat the charge to recreate a missing message.
