# Send messages from your workflows

Connect your Bird workspace to viaSocket with OAuth. Send email, SMS and WhatsApp, retrieve Apple Messages for Business, verify customers, and start workflows from Bird events.

## Connect your workspace and test your workflow.

Start with a viaSocket account and a Bird workspace. Configure a sender in Bird for each channel you plan to use, then connect that workspace in the workflow editor.

**viaSocket editor**

Bird → Connection

Search for Bird when adding an action or trigger. Select an action such as Send SMS or Create Email Message, or choose New Message Event to start the workflow from a Bird event. Open Connection to connect your account.

**Bird connection**

- Workspace: The workspace with your senders
- Permissions: Review the requested access

Sign in to Bird, choose your workspace and approve the requested permissions. When you return to viaSocket, select the saved connection for your Bird step.

Test → Go Live

Map recipients and content from earlier steps. For New Message Event, select the event types you need and optionally filter by mailbox. Test with a recipient you control, check the result and execution history, then set the workflow live. Action tests can send real messages.

## Messaging actions and event-driven workflows

- Send and retrieve messages. Send email, SMS and WhatsApp with the senders and templates in your Bird workspace. Retrieve messages by ID, including Apple Messages for Business.
- Create and check one-time passcodes. Start a verification for a phone number or email address, then check the customer's passcode in a later workflow step.
- Choose the events that start your workflow. Use the event selector to react to incoming messages or delivery updates. The optional mailbox filter narrows the events your workflow receives.
