### Can I start with Realtime for free?

The Free tier includes the capacity shown in the plan table. Choose a paid capacity tier or discuss a custom plan when your application needs more concurrent connections or daily messages.

### What is a concurrent connection?

Concurrent connections are connections open at the same time. They are different from the number of users who visit your app over a day or a month.

### Is the message allowance monthly?

The message allowances in this table are per day. Compare peak concurrent connections and daily message volume separately when choosing capacity.

### Why do paid plans show a custom price?

A public price is not available for these capacity options. Select the capacity you need and ask Sales for the applicable monthly price and terms.

### What happens if I exceed my capacity?

Confirm capacity limits, any additional-usage charges and upgrade options in your plan terms. Do not assume usage above an allowance is unlimited or free.

### What should I estimate before choosing a plan?

Estimate peak concurrent connections and messages per day, including fan-out to subscribers. Use those values to choose a capacity step and discuss expected growth.
