## A useful signal. A customer’s choice.

Validate one address or up to 1,000 per batch through Bird’s API, SDKs, CLI or hosted MCP. Batch requests must fit within 128 KiB; split larger lists into separate requests.

### Keep the original address.

Keep the address the customer entered. When Bird suggests a spelling correction, ask which address they intended and validate the changed address again before sending.

### Read more than the score.

Read the verdict, reason and address flags alongside the delivery confidence score from 0 to 100. A catch-all domain can leave the mailbox uncertain, and a role address may call for a different sending policy.

### How does email validation differ from email verification?

Email validation assesses address quality. [Email verification with a code](/verify-api/features/email) confirms that the customer can access the inbox. Get consent for the messages you intend to send.
