Our sign-up forms are designed to make it easy for your customers to opt in on the channel that they want to use.

Sign-up forms let you collect customer contact details via WhatsApp, email, or SMS directly from your website or Shopify store. When someone subscribes, they’re added to your contact list—ready to receive automated welcome messages or promotional offers, like a discount code.

  1. Go to the Admin section by clicking the purple A icon in the main nav.

  2. Click the Integrations tab to open the integration marketplace.

If you’re using Shopify, follow these steps to install the integration and enable forms on your store:

  1. In the integration marketplace, search for Shopify.

  2. Click Add new connector.

  3. Select Install from Shopify App Store.

  4. Complete installation and enter your business credentials.

Before building your form, create a list to store your new sign-ups.

  1. Go to Marketing → Manage → Audience → Lists & Segments.

  2. Click Create new list (top right).

  3. Name your list — for example, Website sign-ups.

  4. Choose a consent type:

    • Single consent: automatically adds contacts as soon as their phone number or email is collected.

    • Double consent: requires an additional opt-in from the customer.

  5. (Optional) Add a description or tag to help teams identify the list.

  6. Click Add list to save.

You can now start building your sign-up form from the left-hand menu.

Bird supports two types of sign-up flows: form submission and QR code.

Form submission

If you select form submission during setup:

  • Customers will be asked to enter their phone number or email directly into the form.

  • The input appears either on the homepage of the sign-up form or after selecting a channel.

  • When submitted, their data is saved to the list you configured earlier.

QR code

If you select QR code sign-up:

  • Customers on desktop will see both a link and a QR code to scan with their phone.

  • Mobile users will see a link that opens the messaging app for the selected channel.

  • Customers send a predefined message to your business to subscribe.

Once the message is sent:

  1. A flow runs in the background to process consent.

  2. The customer’s profile is updated to reflect their opt-in status.

  3. A confirmation message is sent, confirming they’ve successfully subscribed

Once you’ve collected some sign-ups through your sign-up form, you can start to send them marketing messages by creating message templates in Studio and sending them via Campaigns.
