# Phone number setup

Connecting your own WhatsApp Business number is **not available yet**. Today there is nothing to set up: Bird provides managed phone numbers and a set of pre-registered [templates](/docs/guides/whatsapp/templates), so you can send without registering anything with Meta.

Every message goes out from one of Bird's numbers, chosen by the template's category and your region: **authentication** templates send from a dedicated authentication number, while **utility** and **marketing** templates share a notification number. A send has no `from` field; see [Category and sender](/docs/guides/whatsapp/sending-whatsapp#category-and-sender).

The [**Numbers**](https://bird.com/dashboard/w/whatsapp/numbers) page in the dashboard lists the managed numbers available to your workspace, each with its status, display name, number, and the WhatsApp Business Account it belongs to. The number a specific message used is on the message itself, in the `from` field of the [send response](/docs/guides/whatsapp/sending-whatsapp#a-minimal-send) and in the [message log](/docs/guides/whatsapp/message-log).

When bring-your-own-number support arrives, this page will cover connecting a WhatsApp Business number to your workspace. The WhatsApp pages in the dashboard offer a notify-me option for when custom senders and templates become available.
