# `bird assets folders update`

## Usage

```bash
bird assets folders update <folder-id> [flags]
```

## Description

Rename or move a media-library folder

Moves the folder and its descendants without changing asset URLs. Null parent\_id moves it to the root. Moving into itself or a descendant is refused, as is a tree deeper than 10 levels.

Build the request from flags, a JSON AssetFolderUpdate body via --body-file ("-" reads
stdin), or both — a flag overrides the matching body field. Run --example to
print a ready-to-edit body, or --dry-run to print the resolved request without
sending it.

## Options

#### Request

| Name                | Description                                                  |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `--body-file`       | Read the JSON request body from this file; "-" reads stdin   |
| `--example`         | Print a complete example request body, then exit             |
| `--dry-run`         | Print the resolved request without sending it, then exit     |
| `--idempotency-key` | Deduplication key; a retry with the same key won't act twice |

#### Options

| Name                | Description                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `--name`            | The folder's display name. Must be unique among folders sharing the same parent, compared without regard to case. Cannot contain /.                             |
| `--parent-id`       | The folder to move this one into. Send null to move it to the top level of the library. A folder cannot be moved into itself or into one of its own subfolders. |
| `--response-schema` | Print the fields this command returns, then exit                                                                                                                |
