## Connect messaging to your store

The provider runs in your Medusa server. Configure it with a Bird workspace API key and the senders for the channels you use. The package README on npm includes the installation command, configuration and sending examples.

### Install the notification provider

Install @messagebird/bird-plugin-medusa in your Medusa project. The package supports Medusa 2.21.2 and later v2 releases.

### Configure your key and senders

Register Bird in the Notification Module in medusa-config.ts. Store your API key in a server environment variable and enable email, SMS or WhatsApp. Keep the local feed provider to retain Medusa Admin notifications. Restart or redeploy after configuration changes.

### Connect a store event and test delivery

Call the Notification Module from a subscriber or workflow, with a recipient and message content or template. The provider does not install order-event subscribers for you. Send a test notification and check its delivery status in Bird.

## Keep customers informed on three channels

### Email receipts and order updates

Send rendered HTML or text, or use a Bird email template with order data. Include attachments when needed and send from a verified domain in your Bird workspace.

### SMS shipping alerts

Send text messages or Bird SMS templates for dispatch updates and delivery reminders. Use an SMS sender configured in your Bird workspace.

### WhatsApp customer notifications

Send approved WhatsApp templates with order and delivery details. Free-form text is also supported within an open customer-service window. Connect your WhatsApp sender in Bird before testing.
