AI agents can reason, plan and decide. To get things done, they also need to communicate.

Send the email. Follow up on WhatsApp. Make the call. Respond to the customer.

That's the opportunity we're building for at Bird.

Today, Bird has secured **$450 million in debt financing**, led by J.P. Morgan alongside Capital One, Citi and other lenders. The financing comprises a $400 million term loan and a $50 million revolving credit facility. It provides liquidity to our shareholders, including current and former employee shareholders, while keeping Bird **private and independent**.

We're also launching **Agentic Harness**, giving AI agents direct access to Bird's communications infrastructure.

I believe this is the largest opportunity we've ever had.

## Giving agents a way to act

For an agent acting on behalf of a person or a business, communication is part of getting the job done.

Our revamped platform lets agents:

- Send messages and follow up on [WhatsApp](/whatsapp-api).
- [Place calls](/voice-api) and respond to customers.
- [Send and manage email](/email-api).
- Get their own [eSIM phone plan](/esim-api).

Agents can also manage the systems behind those interactions, handling operational details that previously required developers and manual work.

Our [MCP server](/docs/ai/mcp-server) connects tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor to Bird. Our [CLI](/docs/ai/cli-for-agents) gives agents the same access from the terminal. Customers can choose the model and tools that work for them, without building a custom integration for every communication workflow.

We've spent years building infrastructure that moves **trillions of messages annually**. Now we're opening it to a new generation of users: agents acting on behalf of people and businesses.

## Why I have conviction

We've seen the impact of AI inside Bird ourselves.

Extensive automation has changed how we operate, helped us lower prices for customers and contributed to a business that generated **$165 million in EBITDA in 2025**.

That experience gives me enormous conviction about what comes next, as we expand further into the US and bring this platform to more customers.

We're building the communications infrastructure for the agent economy.

The technology is finally catching up with the vision. It's a magical time to be building.
