# Design it in Rocket. Wire it to Bird.

Import the Bird API into Rocket as a Postman collection. Attach a request to a screen, and Rocket writes the call for email, SMS, WhatsApp, voice, or verification.

## From prompt to delivered.

Your agent can set up channels, manage customers, and confirm delivery. Full read and write access through MCP and CLI.

**MCP**: `https://mcp.bird.com`

```json
{
  "name": "voice_legs_list"
}
```

Examples: [MCP](/ai/rocket.mcp.md) · [CLI](/ai/rocket.cli.md) · [TypeScript](/ai/rocket.ts.md) · [Python](/ai/rocket.py.md) · [Go](/ai/rocket.go.md) · [PHP](/ai/rocket.php.md) · [HTTP](/ai/rocket.http.md)

## Import Bird into Rocket. Then wire up a screen.

Rocket reads the requests from a collection. Your API key stays in the task’s environment.

```
```

Environment

```
BIRD_API_KEY=bk_us1_…
BIRD_API_URL=https://us1.platform.bird.com
```

-

### Upload the collection

In your Rocket task, click … in the preview toolbar and choose APIs. Open Select an API, click Add APIs, choose Upload JSON, drop in the collection, and click Submit.

-

### Wire a request to a screen

Pick a route and a request such as Create an email message, click Integrate API, then click the element to trigger the send. Rocket asks when to call the API and writes the code.

-

### Set your API key

Create an API key in Bird under Developers, then API keys. In Rocket, click the task name, open Settings, then Environment, and set BIRD_API_KEY and BIRD_API_URL on the Staging and Production tabs. A key starting bk_eu1_ calls https://eu1.platform.bird.com.

## Built with an agent. Ready for your users.

Your published app needs its own server-side connection to Bird.

### Keep the key on the server

Rocket keeps BIRD_API_KEY in the task’s environment. Leave off the NEXT_PUBLIC_ prefix, so the key stays in server code and out of the browser.

### Use a sender you control

Verify your email domain or configure an eligible sender for the channel you choose.

### Show the real result

Save the message ID. Update your app from the message status or delivery events.

## A few good places to start.

Tell Rocket what should happen, and name the Bird request to call.

Send a welcome email

```
When a user signs up, call Create an email message to send a welcome email. Save the returned message ID on the user.
```

Text an order update

```
When an order ships, call Create an SMS message with the customer’s phone number and the tracking link. Show an error on the order page if the call fails.
```

Verify a phone number

```
On the sign-up screen, call Create a verification for the phone number the user enters. On the next screen, call Create a verification passcode check with the code they type.
```

Why a Postman collection?

Rocket’s APIs panel imports Postman collections, cURL commands, and OpenAPI files. The Bird collection gives each request a working example and names its variables for Rocket’s environment.

Which host does my app call?

The host your API key names. A key starting bk_us1_ calls https://us1.platform.bird.com, and a key starting bk_eu1_ calls https://eu1.platform.bird.com. Set BIRD_API_URL to match.

How do I get new Bird requests?

Download the collection again and upload the file to your task. Bird rebuilds the collection from its API specification with each release.
